about paw lickers

In 2002, after several years of home cooking food for her two dogs, Marianne Gage decided to experiment with making a healthy, all natural treat for them. Starting with a homemade biscotti recipe, and knowing that her dogs loved the taste of pumpkin, Marianne combined the two using only all natural, dog safe ingredients.

The final product was a hit. Not only did her dogs love the cookies, but so did just about every dog that tried them. Soon everyone was asking for them. Marianne and her son David soon started getting ideas of turning the cookie production into a business. The two of them agreed and soon began brain storming new flavors and streamlining cookie production. Thus Paw Lickers All Natural Dog Cookies were born.

Initially, Marianne and David continued work with their day jobs and produced the cookies in their spare time. With a simple site on the internet and the support of a couple of local businesses, the treats were starting to move. They had also begun researching other unique product lines and expanding their selection of products online. It was time to make the leap.

On December 3rd 2005, they opened Paw Lickers Bakery & Boutique for Pets in Greenfield Center New York. The shop boasted a full production kitchen where customers were able to see the cookies being made, and an expanded menu of fresh baked goods.

In August 2007, the shop closed briefly for renovation and re-opened with twice the square footage and many more products. Marianne and David had started doing some more product design behind the scenes though and were considering a change of direction.

On August 1st 2010, Paw Lickers Bakery & Boutique closed it's Greenfield Center New York retail location and became an exclusively web based shop. Allowing Marianne and David the opportunity to shift the focus of the business to manufacturing and wholesale of their products, as well as to more research and development of unique pet products.

In July of 2012, Paw Lickers undertook a major shift and went back to basics. With a major web site redesign, Marianne and David have taken Paw Lickers back to the basics. The site is no longer a large scale shop for pet products, but a dedicated brand page with links to their other core brand pages.
